GPS Heads to Spring Youth Forum

Meet Ericka, president of the Grizzly Prevention Squad at Hoquiam High School. Formed in 2014, this group is responsible for the prevention art you'll see on campus and for delivering presentations to the Jr. High School. This year, the group will be attending a Spring Youth Forum in Centralia, where they will be recognized for their prevention work and given the opportunity to learn from other school representatives with similar goals and interests.

(Ericka stands with Izzy Chavez, the Student Assistance Professional at the head of prevention and GPS at Hoquiam High)

According to the forum website, "The goal of the Spring Youth Forum is to recognize and reward youth prevention teams that have implemented a successful project within their communities; provide a venue to showcase prevention projects that were considered, created, and shaped by youth leaders during and following previous Prevention Summits or other youth trainings; give students from across the state an opportunity to learn from one another through a series of forums presented by the prevention teams accepted to attend; and share success stories from youth groups with future groups to encourage sustainability of their programs."

Thanks GPS for standing HoquIAM proud! Have fun on your trip!
